Challenge

Students need trusted housing near campus plus study resources and campus updates in one place. Landlords need listing tools with approval, media, and analytics. Operators need moderation for listings, class documents, news and events, and access requests—delivered as a single role-aware mobile product with maps, file uploads, and chat.

Solution

Delivered a React Native app (bottom tabs: News, Real Estate, Core Hub, Class, Events) with a FastAPI backend on MySQL—JWT auth, REST APIs, media uploads, and real-time WebSocket chat. Property flow covers CRUD, search, favorites, applications, reviews, and analytics with admin approve/reject. Pango Class adds a gated PDF library and resource-request workflows. News and events include feeds, calendar, registrations, and moderation.

Impact

Consolidates housing discovery, class materials, campus news and events, and messaging into one role-aware mobile app with moderation queues for admins and owners. Available on Google Play.

Project overview

PangoLangu is a React Native mobile product for campus communities. Its primary domain is student housing and property rental, with additional modules for academic documents, campus news and events, messaging, and in-app administration.

What we built

Student housing & rentals — browse and search listings, maps, favorites, applications, reviews, owner listings, and listing analytics; admin approve/reject with rejection reason
Pango Class — gated document library (PDF reader), uploads, likes/saves/ratings/comments, resource requests with responses and approvals, student dashboard, class access request flow
News & events — feeds, bookmarks, campus calendar, event registration and registrant lists, author tools, admin moderation and categories
Messaging & notifications — conversations over REST plus real-time WebSocket delivery; in-app notification list
In-app admin — stats, pending property approvals, property and user management, class document and access moderation, news/events moderation, reports, activity log, category management
Auth & profile — register/login, secure session, profile and settings, password change

Technical approach

Cross-platform React Native client with centralized API service and role-aware navigation. Backend is a FastAPI service on MySQL with JWT authentication, multipart media uploads, and a companion WebSocket server for chat.
